About This Program

Approximate length 2:00

You're invited to our first ever exclusive club2030 concert, a night that will pair (pun intended) the intrigue of contemporary chamber music with expertly led wine tasting. This program, curated by pianist and Bard College Conservatory Artist-in-Residence Blair McMillen, explores the diverse styles and sounds of concert music written in the last 30 years. Interspersed throughout the evening, Solo Vino owner Chuck Kanski will lead us on a wine tasting experience of three delectable wines.

A limited number of tickets are available for this event so be sure to get your tickets today!

More on the concert: This program explores the diverse styles and sounds of concert music written in the last 30 years – a period during which composers have been freed from the confines of what contemporary music "should sound like." The "complexity for complexity's sake" shackles have been torn away. This program features works by composers who write music not based on rules of composition but based on what they feel, what they love, what moves them.

More on Blair: Blair McMillen has established himself as one of the most versatile and sought-after pianists today. The New York Times has described him as "riveting," "prodigiously accomplished and exciting," and as one of the piano’s “brilliant stars.” He leads a multifarious musical life as pianist, chamber musician, conductor, and improviser. He plays a vast variety of musical styles, from medieval keyboard manuscripts to improvisation-based music of all types, from Classical/Romantic-era piano repertoire to the music of young 21st century composers. Known for his imaginative and daring programming, Blair has premiered hundreds of new works, both as soloist and with numerous ensembles. He frequently collaborates with composers and artists of other genres in commissioning works that stretch the boundaries of the piano and the traditional recital format.
