Description of the concert being rehearsed:

Former SPCO Artistic Partner and renowned soprano Dawn Upshaw returns to the SPCO to perform the world premiere of The Cold Pane by young American composer Shawn Jaeger, whose music has been described by The New York Times as “introspective” and “evocative.” She will also sing selections from Mahler’s Romantic song cycle Des Knaben Wunderhorn, a collection of deeply expressive songs based on German folk poetry. The finale of the program will showcase the virtuosity of the SPCO in Schubert’s rarely heard Second Symphony, which takes cues from the symphonies of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, yet shows glimpses of the young composer’s own unique voice emerging. Please note: Dawn Upshaw will not be participating in this open rehearsal.

Specific works and artists involved in the rehearsal are to be determined.
