Nikolay Didenko

Russian bass Nikolay Didenko graduated from the Moscow Academy of Choral Art in both singing and conducting in 2003. Between 2003 and 2004 he was a soloist of the ‘New Opera’ in Moscow, and until 2005 a member of the Houston Grand Opera Studio. There he participated in several productions including Turandot, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Die Zauberflote and Tosca.

As a guest soloist, Didenko has performed at the Alte Oper, Frankfurt, The Rheingau Musikfestival and at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Moscow. Conductors he has worked with include Patrick Summers, Vladimir Spivakov, Hans Graf and Mikhail Pletnev.

He has sung in Romeo et Juliette, Madama Butterfly, Idomeneo, Lysistrata, La Boheme, and La Cenerentola at the Houston Grand Opera. He also sang in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the New York City Opera, Verdi Requiem with the Houston Symphony, Clemenza di Tito at the Washington Opera, Les Troyens at the Opera National de Paris, Bastille, Mozart and Salieri with the Real Filharmonica de Galicia, and Sarastro in Die Zauberflote at the Bilbao Opera.

Plans for the 2013-14 season include Shostakovich Symphony No.14 with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Credo with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Shostakovich Symphony No. 13 in Suntory Hall with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and Eugene Onegin with Norrlandsoperan and Cologne Opera.
