About This Program

Approximate length 2:00

Join us for a two-evening exploration of the musical worlds of singer/songwriter/painter Devendra Banhart. An acknowledged leader of the acid-folk/indie-rock movement, he is revered for his idiosyncratic career of defying expectations and inspiring musical trends. The program title is borrowed from Dom Sylvester Houédard’s 1974 poem “Wind Grove Mind Alone.”

Program A: Friday, May 13

Please note: Seated General Admission tickets for the Friday, May 13 performance are currently SOLD-OUT. Please check the Walker Art Center website for balcony standing room ticket availability.

Banhart performs a solo set of songs drawn from his 11 albums, followed with music by interactive experimenters Lucky Dragons, Helado Negro (Roberto Carlos Lange), William Basinski (Disintegration Loops) and others.

Program B: Saturday, May 14

Please note: Seated General Admission tickets for the Saturday, May 14 performance are currently SOLD-OUT. Please check the Walker Art Center website for balcony standing room ticket availability.

The second night opens with Banhart’s full touring band, followed by Brazilian singer-songwriter Rodrigo Amarante (Los Hermanos, Orchestral Imperial), LA art-pop duo Hecuba, and a rare appearance by iconic ambient/minimal music pioneer Harold Budd.

Due to short-term damage to his voice acquired during a recent extended solo Europe tour, Michael Gira will not be performing on Saturday May 14. Sorry for any inconvenience.
