About This Program
Approximate length 1:30
Described as a “supervirtuoso” that “has no fear” by fellow cellist Yo-Yo Ma (Philadelphia Inquirer), composer and cellist Giovanni Sollima has inspired audiences and musicians alike, including the returning soloist of this program, SPCO Artistic Partner Abel Selaocoe. Selaocoe will team up with SPCO cellist Richard Belcher on Sollima’s contemplative and virtuosic work, When We Were Trees, which combines elements of Baroque music, contemporary rock and metal, along with musical styles from around the world.
