Baroque Concertos and Haydn’s Fire Symphony

February 16, 2018

Drama abounds in this program of music with theatrical ambitions. SPCO musicians shine as soloists in ebullient and evocative Baroque concertos from prolific opera composer Domenico Cimarosa and the beloved Antonio Vivaldi. Haydn’s Symphony No. 59, likely nicknamed Fire after its use as accompaniment to German playwright Gustav Friedrich Wilhelm Großmann’s play The Great Fire, closes out the program. In addition to these works, this program will feature young musicians fro the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonie's Harmony program.
