Chamber Music Series at Capri: Beethoven's First String Trio

February 23, 2018

Brooklyn-based composer Ljova goes back to his Klezmer roots as the opener to this chamber music program, and the Kodály Serenade captures the folk music of his native Hungary. Beethoven’s Serenade in D Major for violin, viola and cello, gives each member of the group a fair share of beautiful melodies and virtuosic passagework. The viola takes on an especially important role in this program, functioning not only as an inner voice in the Beethoven, but in the first half as the bass line and anchor of the group.
