Maureen Nelson Plays The Lark Ascending

April 6-8, 2018

SPCO violinist Maureen Nelson takes center stage for Ralph Vaughan Williams’ iconic The Lark Ascending, based on the George Meredith poem of the same name. Following this program’s poetry-inspired, avian theme, the Vaughn Williams is paired with the Midwest premiere of Music Alive composer-in-residence Lembit Beecher’s Conference of the Birds, scored for 18 solo strings and adapted from the eponymous 12th-century Persian epic.
