Nina Tso-Ning Fan

Violin

Nina Tso-Ning Fan is a full-time member of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. A native of Colorado, Fan began her violin studies at the age of four. She earned her bachelor’s degree in French literature from Harvard University while studying violin with James Buswell at the New England Conservatory of Music. She later received her master’s degree in violin performance at Indiana University, where her teachers were Sylvia Rosenberg and Paul Biss. There, she was an associate instructor of violin and also served as teaching assistant to Rosenberg. In 2002, she was the winner of a McKnight Artist Fellowship for Performing Musicians and participated in a ten-week independent study residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Banff, Alberta. She is an active recitalist and chamber musician in the Twin Cities. Fan is a faculty member of the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis. She has performed at many summer festivals including those in Aspen, Sarasota, Jackson WY (Grand Tetons), San Diego (Mainly Mozart), and San Luis Obispo (Festival Mozaic).
