Brian Blanchard

Guest Musician

A native of El Paso, Texas, Brian Blanchard resides in Utah, but can be found playing the horn around the country. Before his university studies, Brian graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, MI, where he met his future wife and fellow horn player, Madelyn. Brian later received a Bachelor of Music from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. He also studied at Rice University in Houston, TX. His principal teachers were Dale Clevenger and William VerMeulen.

Brian is currently the Principal horn of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra and was previously the Associate Principal horn of the Utah Symphony. Before Utah, Brian was Principal Horn of the North Carolina Symphony, Utility Horn with the Saint Louis Symphony, and Associate Principal Horn of the Kansas City Symphony. He has also performed with the Houston, Dallas, Chicago and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras as well as the Houston Grand Opera. Brian also served as interim-principal horn with the Louisville Orchestra. The horn took him further afield when he performed with the Orchestra of Macau in China. While a student, Brian was also a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (the training orchestra of the Chicago Symphony) and was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center. This summer, Brian will tour Europe playing with the world famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

When not performing, Brian can be found cycling the beautiful roads of Utah or trying to keep up with his two children on the slopes.
