Brian Jensen

Guest Musician

A native of Utah, Brian Jensen joined the Minnesota Orchestra in the fall of 2002 as second horn. Jensen has performed and toured with the Cleveland Orchestra, and has performed with the Seattle Symphony and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Before coming to Minnesota, he played for a season with the Utah Symphony alongside his teacher Bruce Gifford. While an active freelance musician in the Salt Lake City area, Jensen also played with the Utah Opera and Utah Festival Opera Company.

Jensen first took up the horn at age 11 and has studied under Bruce Gifford, Michael Packham, Stephen Proser, William Barnewitz and Randall Faust. He set aside his instrument to serve a two-year mission in Spain for his church, acquiring many skills that contributed to his development as a successful musician. Currently, Jensen is an active teacher and maintains a studio from his home.

Jensen was featured with horn section colleagues in 2007 performances of Schumann’s Konzertstück for Four Horns and Orchestra, with Gilbert Varga conducting.
