Rising young violinist Dylan Hamme was winner of The Juilliard School’s 2024 Ligeti Violin Concerto Competition and performed as soloist at Alice Tully Hall with Juilliard Orchestra (AXIOM Ensemble) and conductor Jeffrey Milarsky. Now a senior at Juilliard, Dylan studies with Areta Zhulla as recipient of the Dorothy Delay scholarship and has held both concertmaster and principal second positions with Juilliard Orchestra as a member of the coveted Principal Pool. His other current and past teachers and mentors include Catherine Cho, Scott Yoo, and Ray Iwazumi. He currently plays on a 1901 John Marshall violin on generous loan from Juilliard’s Stringed Instrument Collection.
Deeply passionate about the music of today, Dylan is in demand for his dynamic performances of contemporary works. Upcoming highlights include appearances as soloist with the GRAMMY-nominated North/South Consonance Chamber Orchestra performing Max Lifchitz’s Violin Concerto Intervencion, and as part of a string quartet residency at Encounters With Beauty, featuring music by Reena Esmail, with the Leela Dance Collective at Livermore Valley Arts. Also a composer, Dylan has studied composition with Nina C. Young and Philip Lasser and has received commissions from New York area ensembles.
