Erica Tursi is a classical violinist that enjoys performing, teaching and spending time with her two cats, Bentley and Smee. She earned degrees at the Cleveland Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, and New England Conservatory studying with William Preucil, Catherine Cho, Donald Weilerstein and Soovin Kim. Most recently, Erica completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Maryland.
She co-founded the Omer Quartet, which ignited her passion for the string quartet repertoire. The group went on to win international competitions including the Young Concert Artists International Audition, Premio Paolo Borciani Competition, and Trondheim International Chamber a music Competition, as well as holding residencies at the New England Conservatory, Yale University and University of Maryland. Subsequently, the group concertized throughout North and South America as well as Europe and developed performances for incarcerated populations in the mid-Atlantic as well as a series of concerts benefiting local food pantries in the DC-Metro area.
The quartet amicably ended their decade-long adventure together and Erica now enjoys performing in the Philly/NYC/MD area with friends and discovering coffee shops wherever she travels. She is ecstatic to be playing with such an inspiring group of musicians this week in the SPCO.
