Erika Miras

Erika Miras is an active freelance hornist in the Miami area, and has previously held the positions of second horn in the Jackson Symphony Orchestra (MI) and fourth horn in the YMF Debut Orchestra. In addition, she has performed with the Dearborn Symphony, Adrian Symphony, and the Symphony of the Americas, among others. Erika can be heard on the University of Michigan Symphony Band albums Artifacts and Points of Departure. She was also a recent finalist in the 2014 Coleman Chamber Competition with her woodwind quintet, Pico Winds. As an enthusiastic supporter of community engagement, she has performed with numerous chamber ensembles for outreach concerts, most notably as a fellow through the USC Thornton Gluck Fellowship program. Erika maintains a private studio and recently acted as teaching assistant at the Idyllwild Arts Summer Academy in California. Her major teachers include Kristy Morrell, Adam Unsworth, and Bryan Kennedy. She received her graduate degree from the University of Southern California and undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.
