Fritz Foss

Guest Musician

Horn player, Fritz Foss has served as assistant/utility horn with the Lyric Opera of Chicago since 2012. In addition, he is a member of the Chicago Philharmonic, and has performed as guest co-principal horn with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as section horn with the Grant Park Music Festival and the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra. He is a former member of the Colorado Symphony, and the New World Symphony, where he won their concerto competition in 2005.

Mr. Foss has performed a variety of chamber music, with strings, woodwinds, and brass. As a member of the Paramount Brass Quintet, he toured throughout the US and recorded Shepherd’s Hey. While participating in music festivals, he has performed throughout the US and in over 15 countries, including the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Spoleto USA in Charleston, SC, and two summers with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. This summer, he will be performing his tenth season with the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz, CA. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Horn Performance from Boston University, where he studied with Richard Menaul, Daniel Katzen, and Eric Ruske.
