Born and raised in Ireland, cellist Jane Cords-O’Hara recently moved to the Twin Cities. For the last 12 years she has been freelancing and teaching in New York City. She is a member of The Knights Chamber Orchestra, with whom she recently performed at the Ojai, Tanglewood, Ravinia and Caramoor Festivals, as well as recording albums on the Sony Classical label. In recent seasons, she has also performed and toured with groups such as Iris Orchestra, Da Capo Chamber Players, String Orchestra of NYC, Irish Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Recent summer activities have included performances at Central Park’s Naumburg Bandshell with the Knights and she also frequently performs with the Walden School Players in New Hampshire. Other festival appearances have been at IMS Prussia Cove, World Cello Congress, Manchester International Cello Festival and West Cork Chamber Music Festival. Jane studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, with Hannah Roberts before moving to NYC to pursue a Masters Degree with Tim Eddy at Mannes College of Music. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband Dan and their daughter Aoife.
