Jason Wells

Jason is a full-time member of the Des Moines Symphony and the Sioux City Symphony and subs with many other groups throughout the midwest. An avid teacher, Jason does everything from private bass instruction to group workshops and coaching sessions at various middle and high schools throughout the Twin Cities and the Des Moines metro areas. He is also an in-demand bass player outside of the classical music world and has toured the world playing various styles such as jazz, folk, tango and R&B.

A champion of new classical music, Jason is very active in the new music scene here in the twin cities. He has premiered several new works for the bass and serves on the board of Renegade Ensemble and as the fundraising director of 10th Wave Chamber Music Collective.

Jason graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy with a focus in music, then went on to DePaul University where he studied double bass performance with Robert Kassinger of the Chicago Symphony.
