Jeffrey Marshak is an active free-lance oboist, chamber musician, and teacher throughout the Twin Cities. A native of Dayton, Ohio Jeff began his musical studies on piano at the age of 5 and oboe at the age of 10. He earned his bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from Wright State University in Dayton Ohio in oboe performance and went on to receive his Master’s degree in performance from the Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Dr. Mark Ostoich. While in the Dayton/Cincinnati area, he performed with the Kentucky Symphony, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Richmond Symphony (Indiana) and extensive pit orchestra work with the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and the Arnoff Theater. In 2008, Jeffrey moved to Pittsburgh, PA where he completed a Performance Certificate at Carnegie Mellon University under the instruction of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra principal oboist Cynthia Koledo-DeAlmeida. In the spring of 2013, Marshak completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Oboe Performance from the University of Minnesota, Ferguson School of Music under the guidance of Minnesota Orchestra Principal Oboist John Snow. Marshak performance frequently throughout the cities as substitute oboe and English horn with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Quad City Symphony, Duluth Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Bach Ensemble, and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. He currently works as an Oboe Specialist at Midwest Musical Imports, Oboe Instructor at the St. Joseph’s School of Music, and maintains a private teaching studio.
