JOHN STULZ currently lives in New York City where he recently completed a two year residency as violist of Carnegie Hall's Ensemble ACJW. John’s varied musical activities include a recent weeklong musical ambassadorship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, teaching 4th and 5th graders as artist in residence at PS877Q in Queens, participating in the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont, and serving as founding executive director of the Los Angeles based What's Next? Ensemble. An active composer and performer of contemporary music, John has worked with many of the leading European and American composers and has presented his original work in concerts in Los Angeles and New York. Highlights for the 2014-15 season include performances across Europe with the Austrian contemporary music ensemble Klangforum Wien, performances of original and contemporary works in recitals in Amsterdam, Berlin, Los Angeles and New York, a return performance in Tashkent, and a residency at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. John’s artistic mentors include Donald McInnes, Kim Kashkashian, Garth Knox and Midori.
