A global performer Junghwan Lee appears as an orchestra player, soloist, conductor and educator. Born and raised in South Korea, he started to play clarinet at age 12. He studied in Seoul Arts High school and completed Bachelor’s degree at Seoul National University in South Korea. After his undergraduate school, he moved to Los Angeles to study with world-renowned professor, Mr. Yehuda Gilad at University of Southern California and completed Master’s and DMA degrees. He won a woodwind department scholarship, Dean’s scholarship in SNU and USC and nominee for Pi Kappa Lambda. He won many of competitions in Korea including the Joongang and Korean Music Association Competition and competed in the ARD competition in Munich, Germany, the Swedish Duo Competition in Katrineholm, Sweden, and the Dos Hermanas International Competition in Dos Hermanas, Spain. As an active orchestra player, he held the clarinet position in Kansas City Symphony 2016-2017 and also performed with Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Minnesota orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Symphony Orchestra. Also he performed with Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and KBS Symphony under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, Jaap van Zweden, Yoel Levy, Myung-Whun Chung, James Conlon, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Michael Stern among others. He completed curriculum of the teaching profession and did internship in Seoul Arts High-school, in Seoul and taught private students in Seoul and Los Angeles. As an affiliated teacher in Southern Youth Music Festival, his students has made prize winner include 1st and 2nd prizes. He studied orchestral conducting with Professor Larry Livingston for his minor in his DMA program, also conducted Holliston UMC Choir for five years. He always wants to share love to people with music, he often held charity concerts in church, hospital, nursing home, senior living. Recently, he went to mission trip to teach students and direct concerts at Love and hope mission center music school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
