Katherine Chan

Conductor KATHERINE CHAN is known for her energy and enthusiasm both on and off the podium. Currently, she is a Doctoral of Musical Arts in Conducting candidate at the University of Minnesota, under the mentorship of Kathy Saltzman Romey and Matthew Mehaffey. There, she directs Campus Singers Mosaic and serves as the Assistant Conductor to the University Women’s Chorus. Prior to relocating to the United States, Chan was extensively involved in Australia’s choral community, serving as National Council Member of the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA) and State Committee Member for the ANCA Queensland/Northern Territory, and held numerous positions such as the Musical Director of Choral Connection, Choir Director at St Andrew’s Uniting Church and the Musical Director of the Queensland chapter of Australian Youth Choir and Rehearsal Assistant for Brisbane Concert Choir. Over the years, Chan has been a master class conductor at major festivals, including the Oregon Bach Festival and Taipei Bach Festival with Helmuth Rilling. Most recently, she participated in a conducting master class with John Nelson at the ACDA National Convention 2015. Chan holds a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Washington, Seattle, and a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Pedagogy, from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University, Australia.
