Hailed by the Philadelphia Enquirer for his “ringing presence” and “personal charisma,” oboist Kip Zimmerman stands at the forefront of his generation of rising artists. A finalist in the Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2019 Principal Oboe audition, the winner of the 2016 International Double Reed Society Young Artist Competition, and a prizewinner at the National YoungArts Foundation, Zimmerman has been recognized at home and abroad for his musical performance, appearing in the oboe section of the Philadelphia Orchestra and performing as a featured soloist with numerous ensembles in his hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Balancing music with an active interest in science and engineering, Kip is a collaborator with the oboe maker Covey and Ramsay, and currently plays an oboe of his own acoustical specifications and build. Kip holds degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and New England Conservatory, and is presently a fellow of the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland.
