Lizzie Burns

Lizzie Burns is a New York City based bass player maintaining an active freelance career. She is a fellow of Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect (formerly known as ACJW). She regularly appears domestically and abroad with A Far Cry and the Knights. Lizzie attended the New England Conservatory for her undergraduate studies with Donald Palma, and pursued her graduate studies at Boston University under the tutelage of Ed Barker. During her 6 year residence in Boston she was a founding member of Phoenix and the Pianosofia Chamber Players; a fellow of Symphony Nova; and has been heard many times in Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, and at the American Repertory Theater. Lizzie has appeared at Yellow Barn, both as a summer participant and as an artist-in-residence, and has served as principal bass of both the chamber and symphony orchestras at the National Orchestral Institute. She has also performed with the Borromeo String Quartet as a winner of their annual Guest Artist Award competition, as well as the Parker Quartet, members of the Juilliard String Quartet, The Peabody Trio, and many others. As part of her fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Lizzie teaches at Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music.
