Paula Murrihy

The Irish mezzo-soprano PAULA MURRIHY is a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt where her many roles include Medoro in Orlando Furioso, and Lazuli in L’etoile. She has also appeared as Dido in Dido and Aeneas at Los Angeles Opera, and Ascanio in Benvenuto Cellini at English National Opera. Next season she makes her debut with the Staatsoper in Stuttgart and at De Nationale Opera, Amsterdam, as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier. In upcoming seasons Ms. Murrihy appears at Santa Fe Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. An accomplished recitalist, Paula has performed throughout Europe and America, most recently in a program of Handel at the Théâtre de Champs Elysees. On the concert platform her extensive repertoire includes Handel’s Solomon and Alexander’s Feast (Nederlandse Programma Stichting), Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion (Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment) and Saint John Passion, Handel’s Messiah, and Mozart’s Requiem (Handel & Haydn Society).
