Soprano Sara Jakubiak began the 2013-2014 season in her role debut as Elsa von Brabant in Lohengrin at Opera Graz in a new production by Johannes Erath with costumes by Christian Lacroix. She also debuted at De Nederlandse Opera in Andrea Breth’s new production of Prokofiev’s The Gambler as Polina under the baton of Marc Albrecht. In concert, Ms. Jakubiak will be seen as the Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and with the Colorado Symphony in Mozart concert arias under James Gaffigan, as well as with the Rochester Philharmonic in Howard Hanson’s opera Merry Mount. Ms. Jakubiak will begin the as a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2014 – 2015 singing Mozart, Strauss, Wagner, and Verdi, as well as appearing at English National Opera, Opernhaus Zurich, Glyndebourne Festival, Royal Opera House-Covent Garden, Oper Graz and others. Recent engagements include her debut at the English National Opera as Marie in a new production of Wozzeck under Edward Gardner; Semperoper Dresden as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus; New York City Opera as the Governess in The Turn of the Screw, a new production by Sam Buntrock. In concert, she performed Penderecki’s Polish Requiem conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki with Orquesta Sinfónica de la Juventud Venezolana Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela.
