Sivan Magen

The harpist SIVAN MAGEN has created a multi-faceted career through a wide-ranging exploration of his instrument’s standard repertoire, the commissioning of today’s composers, and his new adaptations for the harp of some of the greatest music of the last three centuries. The only Israeli ever to have won the International Harp Contest in Israel, Magen has appeared as a soloist across the U.S., South America, Europe, and Israel, with many prominent orchestras in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Sydney Opera House, and Vienna Konzerthaus. In autumn 2014 Magen returned to Carnegie Hall for a recital in celebration of the American release of his new solo CD for Linn records, Fantasien, a concert that included the world premiere of Fantasy for solo harp by American composer Sean Shepherd, commissioned for Magen by Carnegie Hall. Magen is an avid chamber musician who has appeared with renowned colleagues in several countries. He is a founding member of the trio Tre Voci with the flutist Marina Piccinini and the violist Kim Kashkashian and is also a founding member of the Israeli Chamber Project, a group that received the 2011 Israeli Ministry of Culture Outstanding Ensemble Award.
