Timothy Peters

Guest Musician

Timothy Peters, violinist, enjoys a varied career as an orchestral violinist, chamber musician, and educator. He has most recently served as the Associate Concertmaster of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra after spending ten seasons as Principal 2nd Violinist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed as a titled guest with many of the world's leading orchestras, including Guest Concertmaster of the Norrlandsoperan Symfoniorkester (Sweden), Guest Concertmaster of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Guest Concertmaster of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Guest Principal 2nd Violin of the Dresden Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and Aalborg Symfoniorkester (Denmark), and Guest Sub-Principal 2nd Violin of the BBC Philharmonic. He has performed additionally with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Houston, San Diego, and Charleston Symphony Orchestras, the Houston Grand and Sarasota Opera Orchestras, and the Houston Ballet. His many festival appearances include Lake George, Breckenridge, Swannanoa, Strings Festival (Steamboat Springs, CO), the Isaac Stern Chamber Music Seminar, and as Concertmaster of the Spoleto Festival USA and the National Orchestra Institute.

As a member of the Degas Quartet, Brutini Quartet, and the Young Eight Octet, Mr. Peters has performed in Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, and the Library of Congress, as well as on the Schneider Concert Series in Tishman Hall (New York City), Chicago, Raleigh, Austin, and Amatius Chamber Music Societies, and live appearances on WCLV-FM (Cleveland), WFMT-FM (Chicago), and WXXI-FM (Rochester). He was a featured Showcase Performer at the 2025 Chamber Music America National Conference, and has appeared in recitals at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Houston's Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. He has collaborated in concert with the Grammy-nominated Enso Quartet, the Euclid Quartet, and members of the Arianna, Jupiter, Ying, and Essex Quartets. Additional solo appearances include concerto appearances with the Maggini Ensemble (Houston), Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and the HuaYin Chamber Orchestra (Beijing).

A dedicated educator, he has been on faculty at the Eastman Community Music School, Hochstein School (Rochester, NY), and Rice University's Preparatory Department. He has additionally taught or given masterclasses at the University of Houston, the Space City Suzuki Institute, the Suzuki Institute of Indonesia, Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (Manila, Philippines), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Feiran Music Academy (Beijing), and at Appalachian State and Seattle University. He has been a featured presenter at the Suzuki Association of the Americas National Conference in Minneapolis and currently enjoys teaching at the Paganini School of Music in Houston, Texas.
