William Welter, raised in Crescent, Iowa, is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of music, where he studied with Richard Woodhams. He most recently completed his Artist Diploma at the Oberlin Conservatory under the instruction of Robert Walters. William is currently a finalist on trial with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for the position of principal oboe. He has performed with many major American orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic. He has attended the Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, Bravo Vail festival, and Music from Angelfire by invitation of violinist Ida Kavafian. William is very excited to be playing with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra for the first time.
