About This Program

Approximate length 2:00

Béla Bartók championed the folk music of his native Hungary, internalizing the rhythms, harmonies and melodies of that folk music into his own compositional language. He spent years in the countryside of Eastern Europe collecting, notating and even recording thousands of original tunes, and essentially giving birth to the discipline of ethnomusicology. Joseph Lanner, an Austrian dance music composer, was one of the earliest Viennese composers to reform the waltz from a simple peasant dance to something everyone could enjoy for the music's own sake.

Ticket price is $20 and includes a drink of your choice (tap beers, house wines, rail drinks and rocks cocktails or non-alcoholic house-made beverage). Icehouse's gourmet American cuisine (appetizers, dinner and desserts) will be available for purchase during the performance.
